SUSECON26 took place on April 20. – 24.

Anyone who spent those four days in Prague could feel the conference’s powerful impact in terms of innovation, professionalism, and international reach. It was a kind of “kick-off” for building an open-source-based and sovereign IT industry.

Together with colleagues from the bank, @Paul demonstrated how open-source platform engineering works in a highly regulated environment and what lessons we’ve learned from the project so far. Thanks again to @Ricco and @Alex for the joint project and this presentation—thanks also to @Axel and @Andre for their support and persistence in bringing the project to life. Using open source in public institutions requires courage and a great deal of commitment.

Our best case study was, of course, the highlight, but the real “kick” came from the many technical discussions we were able to have. In every conversation, every session, and every discussion, we could see the pace of innovation and professionalism that open source possesses today. Especially when it comes to digital sovereignty and the use of AI. So, once again, a huge THANK YOU to:

@Holger Pfister @David Weyand @Andreas Prins @Jens-Gero, @Brigitte Orth, @Troy Jopnik and @Steve Hale from SUSE, as well as @Adam Toy @Peter Nuff @Martin Hering @Manuel Sammeth @Michael Fittler @Torsten Behrens @Uwe Fassbach @Sameera Jayasoma @Florian Vajda

SUSECON26 inspired and motivated us, and for many attendees, it may have marked a kind of “turning point” for the use of open source.

Thank you, Team SUSE, for giving us the opportunity to be there:

@Aleks Francuz @Andreas Herrschaft and especially @Cassandra Coladangelo Cantu for her outstanding commitment.
